Overview
What this certification is and how the exam works.
The Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Cybersecurity certification validates the foundational knowledge and skills needed to begin a cybersecurity career in entry-level roles such as security support technician or junior SOC analyst. The single exam covers five domains: Essential Security Principles (the CIA triad, common threats and vulnerabilities, access control, and security ethics), Basic Network Security Concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, and secure network protocols), Endpoint Security Concepts (operating-system security, malware, hardening, and endpoint protection), Vulnerability Assessment and Risk Management (identifying vulnerabilities, scanning, CVSS, and risk), and Incident Handling (monitoring, the incident-response lifecycle, digital evidence, and compliance). The exam runs about 50 minutes and is designed for students and early-career professionals with no formal prerequisites.
